Review: Darlin' by Quarter Roy

The light hearted “Darlin’” brings a nostalgic ring. North Florida band Quarter Roy is back at it with a classic indie single that feels like it’s stuck in a ‘90s movie. “Basically it is about having a crush and being in love/infatuated with someone,” explains frontwoman Gabi, “... in this case a "Darlin' Boy" but it could be anyone and is open to any person. It is such a dreamy song and I envision it being played at a prom as the slow dance, or in a coming of age film. Just a very sweet song that someone can listen to with friends, or driving around, or in those moments in life where you wish you had someone/have someone. I wrote this one with Kaylie, the bassist, and during collaboration we just had this vision of all of our friends singing this song with us and slowly people have started to sing along and it is truly a dream come true. This is my favorite QR song at the moment, but we have a lot more coming out very soon on the Darlin' EP!” Quarter Roy has been proving themselves as something special in the DIY scene. Gabi’s vocals are soft and comforting while the guitar riff echoes throughout the song. Released on Valentine’s Day, we had the band put together a lovey playlist for you to listen to.
