Live Music: Dayglow
The Vic Theater in Chicago, IL
By Sophie Minello
On an energetic Friday night, Texas band Dayglow was able to bring one of the best opener experiences I’ve seen in a long time. Being their first extensive tour, they wasted no time in introducing themselves as a band to be remembered. Each members strode out wearing a cowboy hat, smiling from ear to ear, ready to make a good first impression. They each held their own energy, constantly pacing the stage and jumping up and down, bringing focus not only to the front man but every individual member. They were as involved in the excitement as the crowd, who immediately accepted Dayglow into their ears and hearts. Playing songs off their 2018 debut album Fuzzybrain, listeners latched on immediately. Aside from their own original songs, they played covers that included the classic “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” and the Full House theme song “Everywhere You Look”. Their silly, fun style with their perfect style and twist were hard not to dance along with. They were the perfect start to an unforgettable night.
